BBL Recovery Week 1: What to Really Expect
Week 1 after your BBL is the most intense part of recovery. Here's a day-by-day breakdown of what's normal, what to watch for, and how to get through it as comfortably as possible.
Day 1–2: Right After Surgery
You'll wake up from anesthesia feeling groggy, sore, and swollen. Your faja will already be on. You may have small drains to remove excess fluid — our Hands-Free Post-Op Drain Belt makes managing drains so much easier. Rest is your only job right now.
You cannot sit on your buttocks. Sleep on your stomach or side. Have your BBL Recovery Pillow or BBL Recovery Combo Set ready for any time you need to be in a reclined position.
Day 3–5: Peak Swelling
This is typically the hardest stretch. Swelling peaks, bruising deepens, and you may feel emotional or discouraged. Read our guide on the emotional side of BBL recovery — you're not alone.
- Stay on top of your pain medication schedule
- Wear your Stage 1 faja 23 hours a day
- Walk slowly around the house every few hours to promote circulation
- Stay hydrated — aim for 8–10 glasses of water daily
Day 6–7: Turning a Corner
Most patients start to feel slightly more like themselves by the end of week 1. This is also typically when your first lymphatic drainage massage is scheduled. Support your sessions at home with our Electric Lymphatic Drainage Bead Roller.
