How Long Do I Have to Wear My Faja After Surgery?

How Long Do I Have to Wear My Faja After Surgery?

One of the first questions after surgery is: "How long do I actually have to wear this thing?" The honest answer depends on your procedure, your body, and how well you follow your aftercare protocol — but here's a general guide.

The Two Stages of Faja Wear

Stage 1: Weeks 1–6 (Post-Op Faja)

This is the most critical phase. Your Stage 1 faja should be worn 23 hours a day — only removing it to shower and for lymphatic massage sessions. Shop our Stage 1 Recovery collection including the Stage 1 Post-Op Compression Faja — designed for maximum compression and protection in the early healing phase.

Stage 2: Weeks 6–12+ (Transition Faja)

Once your surgeon clears you, you'll transition to a Stage 2 faja. Most patients wear their Stage 2 faja for 12–16 hours a day. Browse our Stage 2 Snatch & Shape collection including the Stage 2 Post-BBL Compression Faja.

How Long Total?

Most surgeons recommend wearing a compression garment for a minimum of 8–12 weeks post-op. Many patients continue wearing shapewear or light compression for up to 6 months. When you're ready, transition to our Stage 3: Everyday Snatched collection for comfortable daily wear.

What Happens If You Stop Early?

Stopping compression too soon can lead to increased swelling, fibrosis, loss of surgical results, and longer overall recovery time. Don't risk it.

Body By Essence Tip

We recommend having at least two fajas — one to wear and one to wash. Check out our Stage 1 Starter Recovery Kit or the Complete BBL Recovery Bundle to get everything you need in one go.
