Why Is My Stomach Still Hard After BBL?
You're weeks into your BBL recovery and your stomach still feels hard, tight, or lumpy. Don't panic — this is one of the most common concerns after surgery, and there's a very good explanation for it.
The Most Likely Cause: Fibrosis
Fibrosis is the formation of excess fibrous connective tissue as part of the healing process. After liposuction (which is performed during a BBL to harvest fat), your body responds to the trauma by producing collagen fibers. When these fibers build up unevenly, they create that hard, uneven texture under the skin.
It's not dangerous — but it does need to be addressed for the best results.
Other Causes of Post-BBL Hardness
- Swelling: Internal swelling can make tissue feel firm for weeks or even months
- Fluid accumulation (seroma): Pockets of fluid can create hard or lumpy areas
- Scar tissue: Normal part of healing, especially in areas with more aggressive lipo

- Wood therapy: A massage technique using wooden tools to break up fibrosis
- Time: Most hardness resolves by months 3–6 post-op
When to Call Your Surgeon
If the hardness is accompanied by redness, warmth, fever, or increasing pain, contact your surgeon immediately as these can be signs of infection or seroma.
