When Should You Switch From Stage 1 to Stage 2 Faja?

Knowing when to switch from your Stage 1 to Stage 2 faja is one of the most important decisions in your recovery. Switch too early and you risk compromising your results. Switch at the right time and you'll be on track for a smooth, beautiful outcome.

What's the Difference?

Your Stage 1 faja provides maximum compression for the critical early healing phase. Your Stage 2 faja is slightly less firm and more comfortable, designed for the shaping phase once initial swelling has reduced. Read our full comparison: Stage 1 vs Stage 2 Faja Guide.

The General Timeline

Most patients switch between weeks 3–6 post-op, but this varies based on your procedure, your body, and your surgeon's protocol. Always follow your surgeon's specific instructions first.

Signs You're Ready to Switch

  • Your surgeon has given you the green light
  • Swelling has significantly reduced
  • Your Stage 1 faja feels noticeably looser than it did initially
  • Drains have been removed (if applicable)
  • You can move more comfortably
  • Skin is beginning to adhere and feel less tender

Signs You're NOT Ready Yet

  • You still have significant swelling
  • Your surgeon hasn't cleared you
  • You still have active drains
  • Your Stage 1 faja still feels appropriately firm
