How to Wear a Faja After BBL Surgery: Fit, Care & Common Mistakes
Wearing your faja correctly is just as important as having the right one. Here's everything you need to know about fit, care, and the mistakes that could compromise your results.
How to Put On Your Faja Correctly
- Lie flat on your back or stand straight — never try to put it on hunched over
- Step into the garment and pull it up from the bottom
- Smooth upward as you go, making sure there are no folds or bunches
- Fasten hooks from the bottom up
- Check that the garment sits evenly on both sides
- Take a deep breath — you should be able to breathe fully
How Should It Feel?
Your faja should feel firm and supportive — like a strong hug. It should NOT feel like it's cutting off circulation or making it impossible to breathe. Read our guide: How Tight Should Your Faja Feel After Surgery?
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wearing it too loose: If it rolls down, it's likely too big. Read: Why Does My Faja Roll Down?
- Only having one: You need at least two to rotate while washing
- Machine washing on hot: Always hand wash in cold water to preserve elasticity
- Taking it off too early: Read: How Long Do I Have to Wear My Faja?
- Wearing the wrong stage: Make sure you're in the right garment for your recovery phase. Read: Stage 1 vs Stage 2 Faja Guide
How to Care for Your Faja
- Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent
- Never wring — gently squeeze out water
- Air dry flat or hang — never put in the dryer
- Rotate between two garments to extend the life of both
When to Size Down
As swelling reduces (usually every 2–3 weeks), you may need to size down. Use our Pink Retractable Measuring Tape to track your measurements and know when it's time.
